Reverse osmosis removes nearly all the calcium from water. Dosing a measured amount of food-grade calcium chloride after the membrane restores calcium hardness, gives the water a fuller natural taste, and makes it less aggressive to pipes, tanks and fittings.

What calcium does in your plant
- Restores hardness. RO permeate has almost no calcium. Adding it back brings the water closer to good natural drinking water.
- Improves taste. Calcium gives water body. Without it, RO water tastes flat and empty.
- Protects equipment. Very low-mineral water is slightly corrosive. Calcium helps stabilise it so it is gentler on tanks, pipes and fittings.
- Pairs with magnesium and sodium. Most plants dose calcium together with magnesium sulphate, and use sodium bicarbonate to correct pH.

How plants use it
- Dissolve the powder in clean RO water to make a stock solution in your dosing tank.
- Dose it into the product water after the RO membrane, usually with a dosing (metering) pump.
- Start with a low dose, then check TDS, hardness and taste and adjust step by step.

Storage
Calcium chloride absorbs moisture from the air. Keep pouches sealed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and at least 1 metre from heat sources. Close opened pouches tightly.

Calcium chloride uses beyond water plants
Calcium chloride is one of the most widely used calcium salts. The grade decides where it goes:
- Food (E509): a firming agent for canned vegetables, a coagulant in tofu, and an additive in cheese making.
- Roads and construction: industrial grades melt ice, keep dust down on unpaved roads, and speed up concrete setting.
- Drying: it pulls moisture out of the air, so the anhydrous form is used as a desiccant. That's also why your pouch has to stay sealed.

What is the price of calcium chloride in Pakistan?
Our food-grade calcium chloride is Rs 800 per kg: Rs 800 for a 1 kg pouch, Rs 1,550 for a 2 kg box and Rs 3,800 for a 5 kg box. Delivery is extra. Industrial grades are priced differently, so compare like with like.
What is CaCl2?
CaCl2 is the chemical formula for calcium chloride, a salt made of calcium and chlorine. The food-grade form we sell is the dihydrate, CaCl2·2H2O, which carries two water molecules in each unit.
What is the difference between calcium chloride dihydrate and anhydrous?
Water content. Anhydrous calcium chloride has no water and is about 36% calcium by weight. The dihydrate is about 27% calcium, so you need a little more of it for the same result. All our dosing numbers are for the dihydrate.
How much calcium chloride should I add to RO water?
Start low and test. 1 gram of calcium chloride dihydrate in 1,000 litres adds about 0.27 mg/L calcium, so about 37 grams adds 10 mg/L. There is no single target for every plant. Our remineralisation guide explains how to set and check a dose.
